Hitting blackjack (also known as a "natural") means that your first two cards in the game add up to exactly 21. You'll either have a ten or a face card paired with an ace. If you reach 21 later in the game, this isn't considered a blackjack and earns a different payout than a natural.
There's quite a lot of room for variance in the way online blackjack is played, and the game can have slightly different rules from site to site. The basics, however, always remain the same. You'll be playing with two cards and the dealer will also have two cards with one facing down and one facing up. The dealer will always stay at 17 and above, and will continue hitting until they reach 17. With this in mind, it's wise to establish a rule on which cards you will hit and on which cards you’d prefer to stand.
When played correctly, blackjack offers the lowest house edge in the casino. The basic rules aren't hard to learn and it’s imperative that you have a thorough grasp of them before you begin playing. If you don't understand the basic strategy, the house edge becomes considerably higher and you will lose money. We recommend that you practice blackjack on our Fun Money software before you begin playing for real money.
Even the best online blackjack players will lose money if they get caught up in the heat of the moment. Keep a cool head by remaining calm and confident in your game. While you may lose some hands, if you stick to these strategies you will make money in the long run.
